The Koblenz summer festival with Rhine in Flames - the program has never been so colourful!Program has never been so colorful
Visitors to the Koblenz Summer Festival with Rhine in Flames can look forward to a very varied program in many event areas from Friday, 9 August to Sunday, 11 August.
On the second weekend in August, Koblenz celebrates one of this year's event highlights in Rhineland-Palatinate together with the neighboring municipalities on the Middle Rhine and the expected 140,000 guests from all over the world. The organizer, Koblenz-Touristik, has put together a particularly varied programme for 2024.
Guests at the summer festival can experience this program from Friday to Sunday in Koblenz in a total of eight event areas on Peter-Altmeier-Ufer and the Rhine promenade. The offer is deliberately aimed at all age groups in order to create an event that is as comprehensive as possible, is highly attractive on all three days of the event and is also worth a visit on Friday and Sunday.
The event areas at a glance
As in the previous year, the Pink Area offers a real funfair feeling in the immediate vicinity of the Deutsches Eck. With a Ferris wheel, merry-go-rounds, children's rollercoaster and many other, sometimes fast-paced rides, lots of fun and thrills are guaranteed.
In the ADAC Area (presented by the ADAC), numerous attractions await the very young guests in particular. With face painting, a bouncy castle, a play mobile and skimboard and SUP tracks, there is certainly no chance of boredom. The stage program also impresses with its diversity. The following genres are intended to appeal to a young and interculturally interested audience: From singer/songwriter music to folk pop, psychedelic stoner rock, hip hop, funk & soul, jazz, Ukrainian choir music, a Greek dance group and klezmer, there is almost nothing here that is not available.
Sunday mornings are devotional. The ecumenical service takes place under the motto "Ver-Trau dich was", which focuses on trust and confidence, courage and confidence.
The top of the German Corner will be lit up with color. Experience the "DasDing DJ Show" in the Gold Area (presented by Neuwied Musik GmbH & SWR1 | DasDing), various SWR cover bands and demonstrations by local dance schools.
The Blue Area (presented by W. Meyer Eventgastronomie) offers delicious food. Culinary experiences are on offer here, and vegetarians are also catered for. And if you fancy a glass of regional wine or an invigorating cocktail, you should stop by.
Dancers are recommended to visit Kuj's Area (presented by Kuj's Café & Bar), where a wide range of delicious food meets music. DJs provide a mix of beats and tracks alongside regional and national musicians that invites you to dance and party.
Party feeling under the open sky is the program in the Bierjagd.de area (presented by Circus Maximus). "REIMSTEIN", "Silent Disco", "Parents' Evening", "iParty", "Back to the 80s" and "Electronic Picnic" should be enough to get fans of Koblenz's legendary culture and party scene moving. And if you're not already, you will be here. Of course, the younger ones are also catered for in this event area: there's a children's disco on Sunday afternoon.
The Silver Area (presented by Rosangela's Cocktailbar & Dalecki Events) exudes international vibes. Capoeira show meets Brazilian Night, German rap from Koblenz meets rap from Cologne and various reggae acts. The national and international specialties, cocktails and more are just as varied.
The Green Area (presented by Ananas Events) is good for every soul. Emotional songs by singer/songwriters enchant the audience, as do the impressive walking acts, which are sure to amaze. And if you fancy taking to the stage yourself, you can wow the audience with your own voice at karaoke.
The gastronomic offer is as varied as the summer festival itself. With all the snack classics, crêpes, bowls, Brazilian specialties as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes, the range is wider than ever. Various ice creams and refreshing drinks of all kinds, as well as plenty of seating in the shade, provide the necessary cooling.

Awareness and sustainability
The summer festival is expressly a festival for everyone. To ensure the well-being of all guests, an awareness team will be present at the Koblenz Summer Festival on Saturday to promote a respectful and inclusive summer festival atmosphere in the best possible way.
Various measures will be implemented to keep the impact on the environment as low as possible. The integration of a deposit system has already proven successful in the past. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on regionality and meat-reduced food at the snack stands and their culinary offerings.
Arrival and departure
Koblenz-Touristik would once again like to point out that it is best not to drive your own car into the city center, as the number of parking spaces is limited. Arriving and departing by public transport is much more relaxed and environmentally friendly. Free Park & Ride offers have been developed especially for the Saturday of Rhine in Flames: Parking spaces are available in Metternich, Moselweiß, the Rauental, on the Oberwerth / CGM Arena and on the Karthause. Details have been summarized at https://www.koblenzer-sommerfest.de/an-abreise.
For Koblenz residents, getting to the event on foot or by bike is still the easiest option. For the first time, there will be a guarded bicycle parking lot in cooperation withthe city of Koblenz's bicycle traffic team, where up to 150 ferry bikes can be locked to hangers. It will be set up in the street Am alten Hospital in the courtyard of the Jakobuskapelle.
Residents who will be affected by the traffic restrictions can also find a comprehensive overview of the special regulations on the Koblenz Summer Festival website.
Program for local residents
As in previous years, Rhine in Flames will be framed by a varied program of events from 9 to 11 August . Rhens, for example, will celebrate its summer festival on Saturday, while Braubach will offer a program from Friday to Saturday. Like Koblenz, Spay and Lahnstein will also be celebrating for three days. Each town offers its guests its own country program, which is also interesting for people who prefer a quieter alternative to the busy Rhine in Flames on Saturday in Koblenz and want to avoid the hustle and bustle.
You can find out more about the respective programs at https://www.rhein-in-flammen.com/spay-koblenz/landprogramm-spay-koblenz.html.
Fireworks on ships
There is good news for all those who will be experiencing the fireworks along the Rhine on one of the ships. "We are in constant contact with the relevant safety authorities. Due to the extensive rainfall in recent weeks, they see the situation as relaxed," says Claus Hoffmann, Managing Director of Koblenz-Touristik.
This also applies to the boat convoy: "Not too much and not too little water in the Rhine - all 29 registered boats can sail."
